Their Expertise

With constant climate related crisis, ACTED focuses on ensuring vulnerable people has access to basic services through improving water facilities, sanitation services and hygiene practices. Indeed, ACTED has been implementing WASH assistance with a focus on the rehabilitation of strategic water points at communal and institutional level and capacity support to the borehole rapid response teams (BRRT) that are responsible to fill any gaps of water loss in targeted wards.

Why are they relevant for this project?

In previous years, ACTED has implemented a range of WASH projects with USAID-BHA and UNICEF in 2017, where 25 boreholes were rehabilitated reaching a total of 60,000 people in the ASAL Counties. Other WASH interventions include construction of handwashing stations in institutional facilities, distribution of hygiene kits and sanitary pads for families and schoolgirls, hygiene sensitization sessions. ACTED through its WASH interventions for the past three years has reached a total of 122,585 individuals.

ACTED in Kenya

Further experiences range from food assistance for malnourished and food insecure families, livestock production, improved access to animal health, nutrition and climate sensitive agricultural practices and soil and water conservation. A well- positioned actor in Kenya, ACTED maintains long-term partnerships communities, Governments, sector, and other national and international NGOs operating in the sector while ensuring that its interventions are aligned with the County Integrated Development Plan and Water Sector Plans. This ensures consistency in delivery of humanitarian services, avoidance of resources duplication/overlap, create synergies and enhance gap filling.
